Returning to my esoteric writing

I've not written in this blog since October 2005. Partly that's been intentional rather than an oversight or lack of interest: I've been working hard internally to understand the direction my inner life seems to be moving. I've been reticent to write anything until now.

Yesterday I received news that catalyzed my writing here again. My dear friend and mentor Margret McCleary passed on 29 January. Just as my deep friend Alix Taylor's passing affected me deeply last April, Margret's passing marks the end of my physical contact with my deep spiritual mentors and friends from the past fifteen years.

I'll write a longer post later today about the circumstances of Margret's passing. I honor her memory in this moment and want to convey my deepest condolences to her family and other spiritual friends.

Dialoging with Archetype Cards

I love using Caroline Myss's Archetype Cards, but I can't leave well enough alone. In her board game, Sacred Contracts, which uses the Archetype Cards, she spreads the cards in the shape of a twelve houses horoscope spread. Each house in the spread relates to the meaning of the corresponding house in the horoscope. Her instructions specify placing three cards in each house in a specific sequence.

I modified the spread slightly and then struck up an inner dialog between me and my inner vision of the three cards in each house.

The Four Agreements every day

don Miguel Ruiz's book, The Four Agreements, poses four principles to help one be truly happy in life. The book's wonderful, but I particularly like this deck of forty-eight cards. Each card has a reminder of one of the four principles.
